Hey friends! So glad you’ve stopped by to celebrate your superpowers with me. Today we are embracing the ordinary heroes in our lives.
We place such heavy weight on the “extra” in extraordinary, and sometimes we forget about the “ordinary” part.
The glamorous leaping catch that scores the final game-winning touchdown somehow eclipses the hard work the other players did during the game. We love the MVP but we sometimes forget about the linemen who are in the mix, taking a beating for the greater good. They are there and steady and important… but also a little ordinary.
Not as much fanfare follows the ordinary – in football or in life. But we need ordinary. We are ordinary. And ordinary is an amazing thing sometimes.
I encourage you to embrace and celebrate the ordinary today!
Who are the ordinary heroes in your life?
Heroes come in various sizes and shapes. Some wear suits and some wear capes.
They are brave in the moments when we are weak. They are not self-serving and praise is not what they seek.
Moms that bandage wounds and Dads that protect. The ones who treat us with the utmost respect.
A compliment to encourage or a kind word to inspire may be just the heroic act you desire.
From the courageous in uniforms that save our lives, to the loving husbands that honor their wives.
It is the teachers that teach and the preachers that preach.
The friends that offer support when you need it most. The soldier that never leaves their post.
It is the doctors that work hard to heal. It is the loving hearts that listen to how you feel.
Maybe it’s the child that stands up to the playground bully. Or the one in your life that accepts you fully.
Ordinary people who perform extraordinary tasks prove that not all super heroes wear fancy masks.
It is the generous strangers who care for those in need. It is the volunteers at soup kitchens with hungry mouths to feed.
A whisper of faith on a challenging day. A leader who walks the talk and paves the way.
We may be someone’s hero without even knowing it. And you may be mine, even if I don’t show it.
It is the unexpected blessings and sometimes the unwelcome lessons.
Everyday heroes are not the ones we usually write about, but they are the ones we would never want to live without.
Their powers aren’t super-human strength that can lift a car. Their powers are simply being the beautiful soul that they are.
They help make our world a better place, just by living with integrity and grace.
Amazing, inspiring, unlikely, and ordinary. Who is the hero in your life story?
