Celebrating your Superpowers – Day 12 {Enthusiasm}

Have you ever noticed that there are certain people that just operate on a different frequency? I mean, these people are over the top and excited about life! And I just can’t help to be excited about life a little bit too when I’m around them. And on those very good days of mine, I hope to be one of “them”.

Oh, I am completely aware that these people irritate the crap out of some of you. With their bounce in their step and their smile on their face and their everything-is-awesome attitude. (If you didn’t read that last “everything-is-awesome” part in the tune of the Lego Movie song, re-read it and sing along!)

The thing is… everything is awesome!

And when we are able to tap into that mindset, everything in our world is better. And everything in the future seems more doable. And certainly the task at hand is a piece of cake.

This mindset is the special superpower that we are celebrating today!

Enthusiasm is defined as an intense feeling of active interest in something you enjoy. And enthusiasm is most definitely your superpower!

We are enthusiastic about our families, our jobs, our creative outlets, our beliefs, our causes, our goals, our passions. And when you have enough of those things in your life… you are enthusiastic about life itself.

Enthusiastic people say things like “of course I can” and “absolutely” and “you can do it too”. They are encouragers by nature and their enthusiasm is the best kind of contagious. Have you ever left a motivational talk or church sermon feeling a little more capable and a little more hopeful? Of course you have! And those, my friends, are the initial symptoms that present when you have caught a case of enthusiasm.

“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.”

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Nothing great just comes along and drops itself in your lap while you’re wearing your “I hate my life” attitude. It just doesn’t work that way. The universe doesn’t reward us for our apathetic, could care less, ho-hum ways. It just doesn’t.

On the other hand, enthusiasm attracts great things, great people, and great outcomes. Because you are excited about life. Because you have a positive attitude. Because you are working enthusiastically toward your goals and the things you are passionate about. And because your enthusiasm is rubbing off on the people around you. And the universe will absolutely reward you for that.

Think of the most enthusiastic people in your life…

Does it seem like they are always happy and have everything they’ve ever wanted?

Sometimes it can seem that way. We all know that it is impossible to always be happy or to have everything we’ve ever wanted. But in reality, these people just handle the setbacks and defeats and unhappy days better because they know that there are better days to come. And they know that if they believe that with every fiber of their being, it will be true. And their enthusiasm rises. And their passions and hopes and dreams step forward. And before they know it, they are achieving great things.

It is a state of mind, pure and simple. It is an attitude. And it is an action of passion.

Enthusiasm radiates from your core and it takes over your life in the very best possible way. It is a contagious epidemic of quickly spreading symptoms. When you’re enthusiastic, everything is awesome. Because enthusiasm is your superpower!

How does enthusiasm make your life a better place?

What ways can you evoke more enthusiasm in your life?

Who can you surround yourself to bring out your enthusiasm?

Who can you seek out that needs more enthusiasm in their life?

Here’s hoping you surface your enthusiasm and let it shine today! And here’s hoping that you will join me throughout this month to celebrate your other amazing superpowers!

I am a missionary and I am so passionate about missions and global work. It is something I can spread with my enthusiasm for it. I find enthusiasm especially watching people discover their gifts and missionary spirit for the first time and get fired up about it. Love this series. So fun.
