Our lives are exactly what we make of them. We have blessings. We have challenges. And it is up to us to create the lives we want amidst whatever chaos may be surrounding us.
Do you ever get caught up in reacting to what life throws at you?
Do you feel like you spend all of your time putting out fires?
Do you find yourself wanting more satisfaction in your life?
I think we can all say a big resounding YES to all of those questions! Maybe not all the time, but certainly some of the time.
When those questions ring truest for me is when I am living passively. Going with the flow and getting swept up in the current. A reactionary, just bobbing and weaving to avoid a knockout punch.
Well, no wonder I am not joyful and enthusiastic about life in those moments! In those moments I am not leading my life, my life is leading me!
Instead, be a visionary.
Decide what you want from life and take steps to make that happen. What do you want more of? What do you want to cultivate? What are your goals, and hopes, and dreams?
Go ahead, envision it. Don’t be afraid to dream! Your mile long to-do list will still be waiting for you when you’re done dreaming. In fact, why not add “daydream about your best life” right on that never-ending to do list? It is a completely worthwhile, check-able task!
My recent daydreaming has been inspired by a wonderful group of women from Friends in Bloom. We are all learning and growing and blooming together in the various stages of our lives. This month we are working on envisioning our best lives and to spark those creative juices, we got together to make vision boards.
The concept of vision boards was first introduced to me by a friend who shared The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne. We had a wonderful girls night, scouring magazines for pictures and words that stirred our passions.
Cutting and pasting is not just for kindergarten craft time!
Why not carve out some crafting time for yourself and create your own vision board? It’s so easy! And it really illuminates your desires and dreams in a tangible way while providing a lasting, visible reminder of what you are working toward.
Stop being a reactionary. And start being a visionary!
